DANTES Director


Mr. Jeff Allen is the Director of the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) and has over 30 years of public service in the field of voluntary education. He began his federal service career as an Intern with the U.S. Air Force, and has served in a variety of education and training, personnel and force support assignments at both the installation and Headquarters level.

He spent his first 16 years at Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C., in a variety of education jobs, before moving to Misawa AB, Japan, in 1999 as Chief, Education and Training Flight. Then, in 2001, he moved to what was, at the time, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Hickam AFB, Hawaii. His jobs included: Education Specialist; Chief, Education Services; Chief, Education and Training Branch; Chief, Airman Development Division; and Chief, Personnel Division. In 2009, he moved up to Executive Director, Manpower, Personnel and Services, at the newly combined Joint Base Pearl Harbor- Hickam.

Mr. Allen has earned numerous awards and honors, including: 2002 Federal Employee of the Year, State of Hawaii; Civilian of the Year, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Directorate of Personnel (twice); Education/Counselor of the Year (four times); Pacific Air Forces Nathan Altschuler Award, Best Education Services Flight in PACAF (twice); 2006 General Horace M. Wade Innovation Award, Pacific Air Forces; and 2000 Air Force Exemplary Civilian Service Award.
